Home First Aid Kit

Whole almost every home is sure to have a few stray band-aids and a few creams in the bathroom medicine cabinet, every home should have a complete first aid kit. In fact, its best to keep a complete first aid kit not only in the house but also in every vehicle you own, because you just don’t know when or where you are going to need it.

But what do you keep stocked in your home first aid kit? Well there is no shortage of things that could be included in a home first aid kit but at the very least there are some items that absolutely should be there. Take a look at the following:

First Aid Manual: Although it’s had to imagine referencing a first aid manual during an emergency, when it’s all you have, a good first aid manual may make the difference between a minor incontinence and a major problem. If you don’t already have one, get yourself a good first aid manual that covers a wide range of possible emergencies.

Elastic and Adhesive Bandages: Make sure you have at least one Ace bandage on hand, and when it comes to bandages and band aids, make sure you have a wide variety of different sizes on hand to take care of any cuts and abrasions you or a member of your family gets.

Gauze and Adhesive tape: Some cuts need more than a band-aid. Make sure you have a good supply of gauze on hand. The tape is a must to keep the gauze closed, so make sure you have at least one roll of that handy as well.

Pain killers and minor medications: Although you probably have many of the over-the-counter medications you need in the bathroom medicine cabinet, make sure you keep the first aid kit stocked with all the medications you could possibly need. Make sure you have, Acetaminophen, ibuprofen or aspirin on hand. It’s also a good idea to keep items like sinus medication, antacid, and other products you may need. You don’t need a lot on hand, just enough to cover the medical emergency at hand.

Other must have items:

Tweezers
Antibiotic cream
Calamine Lotion
Rubbing alcohol and antiseptic cream or lotion
Hand wipes
Thermometer
Soap
Hydrocortisone cream
Scissors
Flashlight & batteries
Safety Pins

I’m sure there are other things you may want to include. This list is just a list of essentials to have on hand. But most important is to make sure you keep your home first aid kit stocked. Unfortunately most problems occur not because people don’t have a first aid kit, but because they don’t keep it stocked. There’s nothing worse than going to get something from the first aid kit only to realize that you don’t have any.
