Backyard Water Games |
| |
We all look forward to summer and the chance to get outside and enjoy the hot weather with family and friends. And nothing says summer fun like backyard water games.
If you already own a pool, no one has to convince you of how effective a pool can be to keep the kids in the yard and cooled off, but if you don’t own a pool, don’t underestimate how effective backyard water games can be in keeping the kids entertained and cooled off.
Check out the following backyard water games to help keep your family busy in the backyard this summer:
Water Tag: You’ve heard of laser tag, perhaps you’ve even played already with your family. Well you can play the same game with water guns right in your backyard. Whether you play capture the flag or just go for all out war, you can go online and get some rules of play or just make up your own rules. Backyard water tag is sure to keep the kids busy. If you have a large group, a really fun thing to try is to use water colored with food coloring in the squirt guns. Just make sure everybody is old clothes!
Water Balloon Games: Water balloons offer a host of different games you can play. You can go for the traditional games like water balloon wars or a good old fashion balloon toss or try new games like the water balloon rocket toss in which teams compete to see who can throw their water balloon the highest and catch it without the balloon braking.
Water Obstacle Course: another really fun activity is to make an obstacle course out of different water shooting devices like sprinklers. Set up a balance beam above a small kid pool or set the sprinkler to create a water tunnel of doom. The idea is to create an obstacle course in which the objective is not to get wet, and to make that objective as hard as possible to obtain.
When it comes to backyard water games, don’t be afraid to let your imagination run wild and to invent your own games. If it sounds like fun, it’s a good bet it will be. Summer and water go together like peanut butter and jelly and water games are a great part of backyard living.
