Carbon Tax Will Be Final Death Nail For America By: Jimmy James |
| |
Well our elected criminals in Washington are at it again, busy trying to destroy the US economy with the introduction of a “Cap and Trade” system for carbon emissions. Co-authored by John McCain’s lap dog Joe Lieberman, the cap and trade system is another attempt to create scarcity in effort to enrich the already rich and shameless.
The cap and trade system as currently proposed would require American companies to purchase permits which would govern how much carbon they can pump into the atmosphere. That doesn’t sound so bad right? Wrong!
First and foremost, the cap and trade system isn’t attached to any measurable scientific evidence that carbon emissions are responsible for Global Warming. It is simply another way for the Government to funnel money from those who produce it to Washington. Like the current oil crisis it is an artificial crisis creating scarcity where no scarcity actually exists.
The K-Street connection. Washington lobbyists are in love with the idea of a cap and trade system because it provides another avenue to inject huge amounts of money into the political process. Because how will it be decided who gets to produce how much carbon? How will that be decided? You know how, lobbyists will poor money into the pockets of politicians who will funnel larger carbon allowances to the companies the lobbyists represent, eliminating competition and creating monopolies and further crushing smaller, independent companies.
Socialism gone wild. The worst part of this cap and trade system is that the money collected from the issuing of permits would as Lieberman has explained, go to a quasi public/private company that would operate outside of the national budget and invest the money in, “other things.”
But it’s not too late. We can still stop this before it gets going. Call or write your representatives and tell them not to support this initiative. Let them know, that if they support the cap and trade system they will loose your support.
This cap and trade system in bad, bad, bad, introduced by a liberal Senator, who, through some unknown way, has become an icon of the right. How we inherited Joe Lieberman I’ll never know, but it’s time to send him back to the Democrats.
