Own a Dog? Deal with Carpet Cleaning

Own a Dog? Deal with Carpet CleaningOwning a dog brings a lot of joy to a household. Here in America we love our dogs, so it’s no wonder that we often treat our dogs just like they were members of the family. But unlike members of our families, dogs are prone to have accidents and incidents involving the carpet.

Even a well trained and well behaved dog will eventually have an accident on the carpet which will have you working and scrubbing. If you own a dog, consider keeping the following products on hand to make your life and cleaning up after the family pooch as easy and as painless as possible.

Own a dog, own a Carpet Steam Cleaner. There are a lot of different brands of steam cleaners on the market but one of the best is the Bissell Carpet Steamer. It is reasonably priced and easy to use and maintenance. It operates like an upright vacuum cleaner and stores away in the closet. Having your own carpet steamer may seems like an extravagance, but anyone who owns a dog is already in the habit of at least having to rent one on a regular basis. Owing your own carpet steamer will save you time and money.

Febreze. Normally I don’t endorse a single cleaning product but Febreze really does the job. If you own a dog, then your house smells like it. You and your family may not smell it, but the smell of dog is definitely in your house. Spraying a little Febreze around your house after cleaning will really do the trick getting rid of those lingering dog smells that like to cling to fabrics.

Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. Many of you probably keep a box of Baking Soda in the refrigerator to keep the inside of your fridge smelling fresh. Well, baking soda also does a great job outside of the fridge. Sprinkle baking soda over the carpet before you vacuum and you’ll pull a lot of linger orders from the carpet fibers. Now baking soda doesn’t add a fresh smell like a commercial carpet products, but it does a great job at removing foul orders.

Paper towels. It’s probably not even worth mentioning, but having paper towels on the ready is an absolute must for dog owners. Let’s face it, potty accidents are only a small part of the mess that a dog can produce. Many times I can’t even identify what the mess the dog has created is, but having a roll of paper towels handy ensures that whatever it is, it can be scooped up and thrown away as quickly as it hit the ground.

When it comes to products for dog owners, this list just scratches the surface. But the one product that is an absolute must for all dog owners is elbow grease. No matter how bad the stain is, it’s your commitment to getting that stain out that will make the real difference. Keep at it and keep it clean, your dog would do the same for you.
