Exercise Tips
Exercise for your Brain

Exercise for your BrainWe send a lot of time thinking about exercising our bodies to maintain good health and to keep feeling great, but how little time we spend exercising that lump of mass that’s stuck between our ears. Our brain is the most important organ in the body, yet it receives the least amount of attention when it comes to exercise and keeping it healthy.

But how do you exercise your brain? Good question. There really isn’t a lot of information on exercising and what does is exist is suspect at best. There are some new video games which claim to be exercise for the brain, but they really fall short. Those types of diversions are much better at keeping the brain busy than they are at giving the brain actual, beneficial exercise.

So how do you exercise your brain?

Forgive me that I can’t remember the source but years ago I was reading a lot of material for salesmen and I remember a story of a guy who was very impressed by people who seemed so smart and so quick thinking. He wanted to be a quicker thinker but didn’t really know how to improve his thinking and mental reaction time. What he discovered is fascinating.

His theory was based on the mind body connection. Not knowing how to directly exercise his brain, he wondered if there were physical actions he could make that would have a positive effect on his thinking. What he did was to introduce sudden, accurate and intense movements randomly injected into his day.

Here’s an example: while working at his desk he would suddenly stand up and make some extremely accurate movement like stand on one leg while touching a spot on the wall with one hand and pushing the 5 button on his phone. The exercise only lasts a few seconds, but was repeated throughout the day. In a short period of time he realized he was getting better and more accurate in his movements. Soon after he realized that his brain was starting to respond in a similar way.

When confronted with a tough mental situation his brain was responding quicker and with a greater degree of flexibility. He was, getting smarter.

Now I’m not guaranteeing that this will work for you, but why not give it a try. There’s no equipment to buy and no classes to join. Try it for a few weeks and see if you notice any results. You never know, perhaps your smarter than you think you are.
