Other Country Stars Share Memories Of Michael Jackson
Country stars are expressing their admiration for Michael Jackson and sorrow over his death. Reba McEntire calls Jackson's passing, quote, "a sad day for the world of music," while Miranda Lambert notes Jackson, quote, "had an impact on every other artist, consciously or subconsciously." Rascal Flatts' Joe Don Rooney isn't shy to admit he was influenced by Jackson, saying, quote, "I count it as a blessing to have been inspired by his music and his artistry." Jason Michael Carroll considers Jackson his generation's Elvis Presley, something with which Jimmy Wayne agrees. Wayne, who describes himself as "a huge Michael Jackson fan," notes, quote, "We have now experienced a day like my mom explained to me the world experienced when Elvis died." He also recalls, quote, "I grew up listening to him, and, in fact, I used to moonwalk down the hallway in school when I was in the sixth grade." Joe Nichols credits Jackson as "truly a pioneer," and adds that "Thriller," quote, "was the first album I ever bought with my own money." Carroll says Jackson's influence will live on, and he's even taking steps to make sure that happens. He notes, quote, "I recently introduced my children to his music and the groundbreaking "Thriller" video. It's something we have all danced around to in our living room and have enjoyed together as a family."
