Kris Kristofferson Tapped For BMI Honor
Kris Kristofferson will be honored by Broadcast Music Incorporated this fall with the BMI Icon Award. The veteran singer-songwriter joins a distinguished list of past BMI honorees that includes Hank Williams Jr., Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Charlie Daniels, and Loretta Lynn. BMI officials say artists chosen as icons have, quote, "a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers." Kristofferson will receive his Icon Award during the music rights organization's 57th annual Country Awards, taking place in Nashville on November 10th.
The Icon honor is the latest in a lengthy list to Kristofferson's credit. Over the years the three-time BMI Country Songwriter of the Year has logged 48 BMI Country and Pop Awards for his compositions. He has also won three GRAMMY Awards, and has been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. |
