Madonna Wants 'Everybody' To Drink Coconut Water
It looks like Madonna has a new trend to set -- namely, coconut water. "The New York Post" reports that the Material Girl has invested one-point-five-million dollars in Vita Coco, a company that manufactures the trendy drink. The 51-year-old acquired a taste for coconut water while on her "Sticky & Sweet" tour. The clear water is extracted from young, green coconuts, not the mature, brown coconuts with fattening milky centers. Madonna's manager, Guy Oseary, said Vita Coco's vertical integration interested them. Also interesting to Madonna and Oseary was the fact that the New York company has turned down investments from beverage powerhouses like Coke and Pepsi. Oseary said, quote, "The fact that they are saying no to everyone who wants them is pretty cool. You want to go to the party that no one else is invited to."
