Willie Nelson Prepping Definitive "Country Music" CD
Willie Nelson is calling his upcoming album "my definition of real country music." For his album, titled "Country Music," the legendary singer set out with producer T Bone Burnett to breathe new life into a set of country classics. He says they recorded 23 songs from a pool of nearly 30 selections, and settled on 15 tracks for the final product. "I Am A Pilgrim," "Pistol Packin' Mama," and "Freight Train Boogie" are among those that made the cut, along with "Man With The Blues," "My Baby's Gone," and "Satisfied Mind." Nelson notes, quote, "There are a lot of great standards to choose from. Fortunately I've lived long enough to know them all, I think. I just love singing those songs." He adds, quote, "There are a lot of young people out there who have never heard these songs, and a lot of the older folks like myself haven't heard them in a long time." Equating the disc to "Stardust" -- his 1978 collection of vintage pop -- explains, he says, "It's the same idea --? great old standards that people are either going to recognize or love for the first time." Nelson's "Country Music" is due April 20th. Track Listing for Willie Nelson's "Country Music" 1. Man With The Blues 2. Seaman's Blues 3. Dark As A Dungeon 4. Gotta Walk Alone 5.
