Gabriel Recording Project Hits Some Road Bumps
A follow-up project to Peter Gabriel's "Scratch My Back" LP is hitting a few bumps in the road. Spinner.com reports that the Genesis alum's concept recording, "I'll Scratch Yours," is stalling as artists fail to meet deadlines or say "no, thank you" to the Grammy-winner. Gabriel's completed "Scratch My Back" contains his interpretations of songs by David Bowie, Neil Young, Paul Simon, and more. In the follow-up, the same list of artists was slated to sing Gabriel's material. Now, at least one big name has said no. Bowie -- whose "Heroes" appears on "Scratch My Back" -- rejected an offer to record a Gabriel track for "I'll Scratch Yours." Paul Simon, on the other hand, has completed a cover of Gabriel's "Biko," which is available as a digital download.
Regarding the ambitious assemblage of talent, Gabriel told "The New York Times," quote, "We may not get everybody, but we hope we will." |
