U2 Producer Steve Lillywhite Makes Play For Cowell's "Idol" Job
U2 producer Steve Lillywhite is making a huge play for Simon Cowell's job. Lillywhite has made a YouTube video in which he campaigns for the soon-to-be-vacant judge's seat on "American Idol."
This will be Cowell's final season as a judge on the show and rumors have already had satellite radio host Howard Stern lobbying for the job. But Lillywhite says he wants the job and is perfect for it. Aside from having a British accent like Cowell, his qualifications include working with bands like The Dave Matthews Band and 30 Seconds to Mars. He talks about going into the studio with Evanescence next, saying, quote, "I am current, I am credible, I am yours." But can he be "firm" like Cowell? Lillywhite says, quote, "I have spent 30 years telling Bono what to do, so I can be firm." |
