Melissa Etheridge, Rob Thomas Team Up For Global Water Initiative
The Dow Live Earth Run For Water is coming to major cities on April 18th and it's getting support from some big stars. Singer Melissa Etheridge will perform at the Los Angeles event while Matchbox 20 rocker Rob Thomas will play the Atlanta run. Almost 100 cities are taking part in the event on April 18th around the world with more artist announcements for cities like Chicago, Minneapolis, and New York coming soon. Rocker Pete Wentz is also signed up for one of the events. The idea is to raise money to benefit the Global Water Challenge, a coalition of charitable organizations that provide clean drinking water to people in countries like Haiti and those in Central America. The L.A. Dow Live Earth Run takes place at Exposition Park and the Atlanta run is set for a start at Pemberton Place.
Thomas says, quote, "I am thrilled to be participating in this important event to bring clean, safe drinking water to the women and children around the world walking six kilometers every day to sustain their families. I encourage the Atlanta community to come out on April 18th because together we can make a difference in the lives of so many." Six kilometers is the average distance many women and children walk each day to get safe drinking water in countries that lack proper facilities. To sign up for an event, go to LiveEarth.org/run. |
