Public Image's Lydon Wants To Get Into The Studio
Public Image LTD is making their first U.S. appearances in 17 years and that may not be the last we hear from them. John Lydon tells Billboard.com that the group would like to record some new music. The vocalist says he sees the tour as a fundraiser to record a new album, and adds, quote, "We've got no backing -- no record company, no sponsors, nothing like that. The only way we can make money is the touring, and then we can make a new album. It's sort of like the old days of PiL, when the [Sex] Pistols went kaput. I had to scrimp and scrape out of my own pocket. Not much has changed." Lydon says if and when the time comes to record, he's got plenty of material. However, the group will likely not use the upcoming dates to road test any of the ideas. |
