Soul Singer Al Goodman Dies At 67
Soul singer Al Goodman has died. CNN.com reports that the baritone -- known best for the tracks "Love On A Two Way Street" and "Special Lady -- passed away of heart failure on Monday at age 67. Goodman sang alongside vocalists Harry Ray and William Brown originally as The Moments and later as Ray, Goodman, & Brown. The Moments' "Love On A Two Way Street" would go on to inspire future generations. Rapper Jay-Z sampled the 1970 R&B classic for his hit single with Alicia Keys, "Empire State of Mind." As Ray, Goodman, and Brown scored the 1979 hit "Special Lady."
Goodman's family is planning a funeral for the artist next Monday in Englewood, New Jersey. He's survived by his wife of 34 years, five children, and one grandson. |
